Much like reading, writing, critical thinking, and math, communication is a skill that needs to be taught and developed. In our current social climate, conversation needs to be reclaimed. The middle school years tend to be even more challenging in this area as students become more self-aware, and more concerned about peer approval. As mentioned in last month’s blog, part of our Life Skills class focuses on learning how to communicate and develop camaraderie with classmates.
One way we have chosen to do this is by providing shared experiences for our students. This past month we have focused team building activities across the middle school grades. This culminated in our 8th-grade class leading the 6th & 7th graders in a time of fun with board games. Our 8th graders did a great job encouraging their younger peers, and fun was had by all!
A great shared experience for your family would be attending our Arts Explosion in April. Buy your tickets today!
